Towards a General Theory of Divination
Written for the Open Source Order of the Golden Dawn's teaching library, this essay steps back from any single divinatory system — Tarot, geomancy, astrology — to ask what all of them are actually doing structurally when they work.
Sam proposes that every divination system functions as a constrained, symbolic sampling of a larger field of possibility, and that a practitioner's skill lies less in memorizing meanings than in learning to read the structure any given system imposes on chance.
The essay is aimed at students who already use one or more divinatory tools and want a framework for understanding why the method works at all, not just how to perform it.
